Seattle

Seattle is our home and playground. If you are travelling to the wedding, please feel free to ask us for suggestions regarding entertainment, food, and fun. Here are a few of our favorite spots:

Places To Stay

We have reserved blocks of rooms at two hotels in downtown Seattle. Both hotels are near good food and entertainment. In order to get one of the rates we have negotiated, mention to the booking agent that you are with the Kuehn-Halverson party.

  • Marqueen Hotel. Website here. Phone/Reservations: 1-888-445-3076. The rate is $139/night, which does not include parking.
  • Silver Cloud at Lake Union. Website here. Phone: 206-447-9500. Reservations: 1-800-330-5812. The rate is also $139/night, which includes a breakfast and parking.

Fun

You should probably see the Pike Place Market at least once in your life. Our market is the original home of Starbucks, Sur La Table, and many other famous Northwest shops. Be sure to watch the fish tossing, sit on the golden pig, and sample the cheese at Beechers.

Listen to some loud music from great local bands at The High Dive. The easiest way to find the High Dive is to follow the cloud of cheap cigarette smoke. Step inside for some fresh air and fine music!

Shorties is a classic arcade in Belltown. I recommend Baby Pacman, the pinball game Fathom, and a Chicago dog. Watch out for irritable hipsters.

November is cold, but if you are willing to sacrifice your comfort for art, visit the Seattle Art Museum's new Sculpture Garden. What is the artistic intent of the metal tree? Discuss.

An extensive selection of quality beers are available at Brouwers in Fremont. Need we say more?

Food

Each major section of town has yummy food. If you are in Fremont, check out El Camino for some tex-mex (try the plantain chips). For those of you that don't speak spanish, it's called 'The Camino.' If you are downtown near Pike Place Market, the Pan African Market, is a tasty and affordable option. A third suggestion is for the swanky Crow Restaurant, which is located in the lower Queen Anne neighborhood. If you come across a new restaurant you like, please let us know! We would love to check it out someday.
